Powder, Rachel, Taco, Stanley & Taz

Powder Puff: (Seen here in a mirror portrait!) This sweet,
curious 16 week old was discovered at a local chain pet store with both rear legs dragging
behind. She had been dropped by a (former) employee several weeks earlier and, other
than a shot of pred, no other vet care had been provided. Powder was NOT improving.
Through the intervention of FACT's shelter director and the kindness of the store's
Assistant Manager, Powder was transferred to FACT. That very day she was x-rayed by
our shelter vet. Powder will remain a FACT foster until we can evaluate the
permanency of her crippling injury. |
| Rachel: Chocolate Rachel arrived with Amy, with the same suspicious
hair loss around her lower belly. We were told that every time she came home to
visit, the woman who dropped them off found them filthy and unkept - and we can readily
see why she talked her brother into giving up the girls. Rachel, the pudgier of the
four year old pair, started regrowing some of her hair within a week of her arrival.

Taco: This is one lady that is NOT much to look at! Taco was found
in southeastern Conecticut. The animal control officer was trying to find a home for
her, but frankly, who would want an almost naked ferret! Like many who arrive at FACT,
Taco contracted ECE and it's taken several weeks for her to recover enough to make it
through adrenal surgery. Taco took an instant dislike to those "other" hairy
"things" she had to move in with. We are hoping she changes her
mind! |
| Stanley: Sable Stanley was diagnosed with an intestinal cancer.
Although he seems to have "beat it" for the time being, he remains under careful
watch for whatever time he has left with us. |

Taz Devil: Taz bit rather badly when he first arrived, but the time
out of a cage and handling have competely turned him around. Now settled in a
comfortable, foster home with a devoted foster mom and his gregarious pal, Sneak, Taz is
no longer a "Devil." Actually, he is now a sweet tempered old man who
gives kisses! He is uncomfortable around any ferret other than Sneak. We finally
determined the possible source of Taz's initial anti-social behavior: Taz is going blind .
