Remembering Pebbles

Pebbles made her presence known. Very talkative. Definitely very smart. She knew how to get her way, whether through her striking beauty or insistent meows. At other times, Pebbles would jump onto your lap. After some purring, she asked for what she wanted. Most of the time, it was your seat. You were simply keeping it warm for her.
On cold winter days, Pebbles could be found in one of three places. Near a furnace vent. On a lap. Or, napping next to Dino. At bedtime, Pebbles would find her place under the covers. Nothing beats the warmth of 100% Egyptian Cotton sheets and two quilts on a cold winter's night. Her favorite season was summer, spending time in the greenhouse or the enclosed patio. Or, finding her settled next to an open window listening and watching the birds and squirrels.
Pebbles was also connoisseur of food, kitty and people. She liked variety in her kitty food, seldom exhibiting any kind of finickiness. She also liked two selections from the deli - Boar's Head Chicken and Boar's Head Turkey. In addition, she liked to sample from the dinner table with her portion being served first. Chicken was her favorite, and it didn't matter whether it was grilled or fried. Beef, preferably grilled. Fresh fish of any kind, preferably pan fried. Pork, nicely browned. And, Pebbles always needed a plate with a splash of fresh canola oil everyday.
Pebbles liked her share of kitty games and fun. The one game she enjoyed the most was playing chase with Dino. First, she would chase Dino. After chasing him into a bedroom, then it would be Dino's turn to chase her. The chase included kitty acrobatics using the walls and furniture. The game sometimes ended with someone getting the "six o'clock crazies," flat-out, high-speed running back and forth through the house. Most of the time, the game just ended abruptly. With both settling at their favorite nap locations.
She also enjoyed all things that glittered. Pebbles, in particular, liked fine jewelry. Her preference was 14K gold. If she saw you wearing a gold necklace or bracelet that caught her eye, Pebbles would come over to nibble on the chain. It was her stamp of approval.
Living happily with us for many years was another stamp of her approval. We're glad that we earned it everyday.
