A Typical Day for Dino and Pebbles

The daily routine for Dino and Pebbles begins quite early. Between 1:30 and 2:00 am, it's early breakfast. You may ask, "Do you really get up that early?"

Your reply would be, "Yes. There's no choice. If you don't, they'll nag you until they're fed. There's no chance of ignoring them. It's not an option." Besides, that's part of being the personal valet to Dino and Pebbles.

After they have early breakfast, they'll do a few cat things. May be some play, relax a bit, drink some water. Dino will visit within 10 minutes to ask for some dry kitty food. After being pointed to his food, he'll head back to bed. Pebbles takes care of herself. Things settle back down. They'll get back up three or four times more for quick bites to eat, with Dino needing to be pointed to his food. Again, things settle back down.

It's rise and shine around 7:15 am. No lingering in bed is allowed. Regular breakfast for Dino and Pebbles comes at 7:30 am. After regular breakfast, Dino and Pebbles will do a few things, which includes a litter box check, a survey the dominion, and some conversation (meow, meow). Around 9:15, it's time for the morning nap. When they wake up around noon, or shortly afterward, it's time for lunch and a brief check of the territory again.

Being satisfied all is secure, Dino and Pebbles begin their afternoon nap as things quiet down. David returns to his work on the computer, grandma continues with her needlework or reading, and grandpa will do some work around the house, watch some tv, or take a nap.

Dino and Pebbles rise from their afternoon nap around 4:00 pm. After some stretching exercises, they'll check what's new. This includes a window check and a patio check. And certainly, some conversation (meow, meow, meow). More importantly, it's time for dinner.

Then, it's time to find a comfortable place for a quick cat nap. Pebbles will settle in her favorite window box in the patio, and Dino will settle for any comfortable spot, preferably on a lap. These places will change a couple more times.

As grandma, grandpa, and David sit down for dinner, Pebbles takes her place on the dinner table by David. With her special place setting, she'll have her portion. Chicken is her favorite, but enjoys beef (grilled) and pork (has to be just right). If the food is not to her liking, Pebbles will have what's left from her kitty dinner. Dino isn't a regular at the dinner table. He chooses to get a head start on his evening nap.

A couple more adjustments in the seating, it's time for the early evening naps. A lap, taking your place on the sofa or recliner chair. It's whatever is comfortable, whatever is warmed up. About 8:00 pm, the naps end. It's time for a quick snack, then onto playing. A game of chase, hide-n-seek, or play on the carpet runner. They'll check their toys to see if there's anything interesting. If not, they'll include David in their cat fun.

The cat fun will ebb and flow over the next couple hours. Dino and Pebbles will take short breaks between the different games. A drink of water. A snack of dry kitty food. A brief rest. By 10:00 pm, things slow down a bit. Dino and Pebbles have a quick nap before getting ready for bedtime.

Bedtime arrives at 11:00 pm. The house quiets down. Dino finds his spot in bed. Pebbles takes over a warm spot on the sofa. In a couple hours or so, the daily routine will begin again.

... and now Egypt

Since her arrival, Egypt quickly adjusted to the household routine and schedule. Her evening routine, though, is a bit different. After her kitty dinner, Egypt takes a short nap before starting a short 15-minute play session. Once the play session ends, she settles for her evening nap. The nap easily lasts from 5:15 pm to about 8:45 pm. When she rises from her evening nap, Egypt has some dry kitty kibble and readies herself for another one-hour play session. The session usually ends by 10:15 pm. She quiets down, and then finds a spot for bed (either the futon couch or kitty dad's bed.)

(Their daily routine will change to accommodate the weather - is it warm or cold? It also changes according to the season. And, yes, they know how to tell time, and are able to make the adjustment between standard time and daylight savings time.)
