Community Tuberculosis Prevention Program
ACDP’s Community Tuberculosis Prevention Program (CTTP) reduces the incidence of active TB among immigrants in Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens. CTPP staff, conduct intensive outreach to reach at-risk adults, to facilitate the provision of accurate information about TB. Staff members administer and read PPD tests, making referrals for chest X-rays as needed. Directed by a registered nurse, the program provides counseling, and works with clients requiring the six-month INH preventive therapy program. Staff members monitor participation and encourage clients to complete the therapy. The program educates an average of 1800 adults per year, testing over 1200. Over 170 people have completed, or are currently enrolled in INH therapy. This program is one of only three such programs citywide. It is affiliated with the New York Task Force on Immigrant Health.
