Eliza Ann used the surname ROYCE when she married Carlton Braley in 1845, and other documents dating from the 1850's show that the family pronounced their name as Royce, Royse or Roice, even though it was often written by census takers and various recorders of vital information as RICE. | |

Dudley named as a natural son, in Emily (Cole-Dudley) Hitchcock's 1922 obituary. This as found in the 1880 Federal Census of Elk Falls, Elk Co., Kansas. 2) Added Maud Rice, daughter of Marcus Miner Rice & Caroline Elizabeth (Lewis) Rice, who was accepted by the DAR in the mistaken belief that she was a 2nd great granddaughter of Patriot Hezekiah Rice. She apparently believed that either Silas Rice/Royce or his wife Lois (Graves) Rice/Royce was a child of Hezekiah Rice. | |

As found in the 1920 Federal Census of Minneapolis, Minnesota. 2) Added Abraham Rikardsen who was the father of Rikard Abramsen, second husband of Christi Mikkelsdatter. 3) Changed the name of Mary McDonald Brown, second wife of Heber H. Hitchcock, to Mary L. McDonald, and added a Mr. Brown, who was her previous spouse. She had at least one son with the surname Brown, who was found in the 1900 Federal Census of Lola Twp., Cherokee Co., Kansas, living in the household of Heber H. Hitchcock and Mary L. Hitchcock. | |

She was formerly thought to be a sister named Anna Lisa (Larsdatter) Hanson, but was discovered with her three children in a Norwegian emigration database with the patronymic name Richardsdatter, i.e. the daughter of Richard. 3) Removed three couples who had no children and no apparent connection to anyone in the database. who had probably been added in error. | |

However, Kelley genealogy research indicates that four children resulted from this marriage, and that he was 36 years old and Margaret Braley was 30 years old at the time of this marriage. I have revised my files to now show that Joseph Kelley/Killey married Margaret Braley, daughter of Roger Braley & Margaret (Sherman) Braley, b. Aug. 18, 1752 in Rochester, MA. 2) Added two children of Margaret Braley, apparently born out-of-wedlock, prior to her marriage to Joseph Kelley. 3) Added the marriage of David Hitchcock, son of George B. Hitchcock & Caroline (Grossman) Hitchcock, to Emily S. Cole, daughter of James W. Cole &: Harriet S. (Hitchcock) Cole, and added her probable first marriage to a Mr. Dudley, because according to her obituary in 1922 she had a surviving son, G. W. Dudley. | |
