1976 - 1990 - Served as a CWO Special Agent with the US Army Criminal Investigation Command. Assignment included Schwaebisch Hall, Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Korea (two tour - one at Camp Howze and DMZ and other in Pusan); and Ft Harrison, IN. Also, went on Special Assisgnments to Paris and England with Secretary of Defense (Casper Weinberger). Retired as Chief Warrant Officer in 1990.

attended FA OCS, went to Vietnam as a forward observer with an infantry company in the First Cavalry Division and was medevaced in my 11th month. I spent the next 21 years in the Army, retiring as a LTC in 1990. Assignments to Europe and Korea and two years as a military
attaché in Moscow (83-5). Along the way, I got a MA and PhD from Georgetown University in Russian/ Soviet Studies. Worked for the US Govt for a couple of years and was an advisor to the CinC Centcom
until 1994. Got to spend the 1st Gulf War in Riyadh.

Wife, Debbie, and I own JonTori, Inc. which operates JTI Properties, LLC, a Real Estate Construction, Sales. And Leasing company with properties in CO, GA, TX, NM, and WA. Debbie handles the construction and sales with most of our home building in the Las Cruces, NM area.
Presently, I am a contractor at White Sands Missile Range and am responsible for writing the scenarios for Brigade and Below Simulation (BBS) Wargames involving Future Combat Systems.
1 daughter age 29. One daughter age 17 and a son age 13. The 17 yr-old and the 13 yr-old were adopted from Russia in 1998 and represent the best adventure Debbie and I have embarked upon to date!
I am having too much fun to retire, but eventually, we will move back to Colorado.

Colonel J. Michael (Mick) Hanratty has spent over half of his 28-year military
career in the acquisition and research and development field. He is currently
the Director of the Open Systems Joint Task Force (OS-JTF), the Office of the
Under Secretary of Defense (A&T), in Alexandria, VA. Previous assignments
include project management positions at the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA)
and the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL), teaching positions in the
Electrical Engineering Department at the United States Military Academy and
command and staff positions in the 101st Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne
Division. He received the Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1982 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical
Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1989. He is a member of
the IEEE and Phi Kappa Phi and is a registered Professional Engineer in the
Commonwealth of Virginia. Also, he is currently an Adjunct Professor at George
Mason University with the Department of Information and Software Systems
Engineering, Fairfax, VA.
