Ibn Rushd

(Averroes)

Ibn Rushd, who died in 1198 AD, is known in the west as Averroes. He was a real renaissance man. He was born in Muslim Spain and studied medicine, philosophy and law. He was Chief Justice in Cordoba, Spain and a minister in Morocco. In his spare time, he discovered sunspots. He wrote a medical encyclopedia and several books on law, religion and philosophy. He wrote 3 books on Aristotle and his philosophy.

He was the first to discover the impact of physical exercise on health.
