Al-Jaldaki

(Pure Gold)

Al Jaldaki, who died in 1360 AD, was a renaissance man, a great chemist who wrote many books on the subject. He was the first to use masks to protect against chemical fumes. He developed improved soap formulations. He purified gold by dissolving silver impurities in nitric acid. He purified contaminated water by distillation.
