VIRTUAL TANGIER: Visions of the City

c. 1880-94: SNAPSHOTS (Albumen Photographic Prints)
1. Unknown, ca. 1880. Reverse inscribed in ink
"A suburban encampment, Tangier."
2. Anonymous, c. 1880.  Inscribed "Woman draped in a Haik."
Of course these images are more than snapshots, given the bulky equipment of the time and the care with which they are composed.  It certainly took considerable effort to persuade a Moslem woman to pose for a "Nazarene", veiled or not.

3. Unknown, ca. 1894. Mount inscribed "Market Place. Tangier. Dec. 22nd. 1894."
