The Mirage (work in progress)

It’s still in the walking-around-and-thinking-about-it stage, but my next novel will be an alternate history story called The Mirage. It’s based on an idea I originally came up with as a possible TV series; although the people I pitched it to all claimed to love it, they also all felt it was a little too “edgy,” even for cable.

More details later...

Update 2/10/08 — I’m still doing more thinking than writing, but I have started it. Lisa and I are in the process of moving from the house we’ve rented for the past five years, so the serious writing probably won’t begin until we are resettled, but that’s OK—one thing I’ve figured out is that I need to do more research.

By way of a puzzle, my Rhapsody playlist currently includes the following, all of which are thematically related in one way or another to the book: Green Day’s American Idiot album, Sting’s “Desert Rose,” Joan Osborne’s “One of Us,” and Stephen Sondheim’s “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd.”
