Local Theatres - Monmouth County, NJ

Sorry this list is incomplete - I started it mostly to keep track of the theatres close to my house and office, because I visit them most frequently. The list has grown over time, and it's often out of date with respect to prices and technicals. But because I think the look and feel is an important part of the movie experience, I'll try to keep the impressions current. Please help me out if you have a favorite that I've missed.

General Viewing Tip: If you're at all dissatisfied with your movie-going experience, let the manager know. Theatres will usually refund your money for equipment failures and the like. Be persistent but nice.

Hazlet Multiplex
Built in 1994, with a large lobby and comfortable seats. If the center snack bar is crowded, check if the hallway snack bars are open.

Loews (Sony) Eatontown
Built in 1995, these 15 screens at the Monmouth Mall offered lots of choices. Unfortunately, that doesn't always make up for the $7.75 ticket price and poor maintenance. Snack counters are slow, but well stocked. Loews' biggest advantage - the restaurants nearby.

Clearview Theater (formerly Sony Red Bank Arts Theatre)
This small theatre is home to many fine films that wouldn't attract the common man. The screens are small, the seats are oddly tilted, and the audio system makes my fifteen-year-old home theater sound good. Easy parking, and a well-stocked snack bar. Located right in the heart of Red Bank, there's plenty to do before and after the show.
