Stangl Gold Finished Birds

Stangl introduced antique gold giftware in 1958. Antique gold was made by dry brushing 22KT gold over a green finish. The line was very sucessful and led to the introduction of two other gold lines. They were black gold (gold brushed over a black finish) and granada gold (gold brushed over a tan finish). Eight large birds were made in antique gold. They are the 3443 flying duck, the 3445 rooster, the 3446 hen, the 3491 hen pheasant, the 3492 cock pheasant, the 3584 large cockatoo, the 3715 bluejay with peanut, and the 3716 bluejay with leaf. Ten smaller birds were made in antique gold, black gold, and granada gold. They are the 3250 series of ducks, the 3401S wren (revised), the 3402S oriole (revised), the 3585 rufous hummingbird, and the 3598 kentucky warbler. In addition Stangl made a rooster for the Mutual Sunset Lamp Company in antique gold. In addition to the antique gold, black gold, and granada gold birds, Stangl decorated a few other miscellaneous birds with various gold finishes including green lustre, gold gilding, "blue gold", and solid gold.
