Stangl began making "pottery" christmas cards in 1956. These christmas cards were made for Martin Stangl to send to family, friends, and customers. The cards were made using 5 inch round coasters. The top of each coaster would be decorated with a christmas motif and the words "Merry Christmas". The bottom would typically have printed on it either "Betty and Martin Stangl", "Natalie and Martin Stangl", or Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Stangl". (Note: The "Jeweled Christmas Tree Card has this on the front instead.) All of the cards were decorated with either gold or platinum highlights and were made in limited quantities.
