"Magnolia Grandiflora"

Close your eyes and picture yourself sitting on a porch swing.
The sun is dipping behind
the water in the bay, the air is moist, and a light breeze is blowing.
The sky is turning into glorious colors of mauves, pinks and corals.
You are relaxing and enjoying the peaceful evening.
All around you are Live Oaks with Spanish Moss dripping from their branches and Magnolia trees covered with blossoms. You hear birds chirping from the trees as squirrels scamper across the yard and butterflies flit from flower to flower. You can smell the heavenly scent in the air. Each time the breeze wafts over you, the fragrance inundates your senses. You take in a deep breath, relax and smile a warm, inward smile.
You get up and walk over to a magnolia tree. You tip your nose into the center of the blossom and inhale deeply. The fragrance is rich! It's magical! It's heady. It's wonderful! I wish I could bottle the
fragrance of a magnolia blossom as perfume It would be in a pretty bottle like this one...
It's fragrance has been described as having a citrus scent similar to lemons, but it is much more than that. It isn't tart; it is a sweet, pungent, spicy scent mixed with just a touch of citrus. You can't quite put your finger on it... it smells like nothing else in the world! You wish the magnolia would bloom all year so you could enjoy its scent always. But that isn't to be. Nature is as life - things you treasure can't always last forever.
As you open your eyes and find yourself back home, you wish you could have stayed. But you will remember the scent every time you see a beautiful magnolia blossom, or a picture of one, and carry it with you forever. Here's hoping that you will get to smell the magnolia's fragrance, if only once in a lifetime. There is always next year... come South in April and May.
