Useful ShareWare
Ray Morton gave me a couple of files, and said that he'd received
permission from the originator to put them up for free downloads; I'm providing
scalecalc.exe
and
APSCU32.zip.
Both of these are Shareware for the PC - unlimited distribution but you can't charge
for them.
scalecalc
(249K) is a useful tool to compute scales, or to convert dimensions from one scale
to another.
APSCU32
(96.1K), once unzipped, is a much more complex program that allows conversions
from metric to inches, etc; or allows to computation of "grades" (I think both
programs were originally done for model railroaders, but they're useful for model
boat builders as well, and the price is right).

B. Armstrong has provided an Excel
workbook which can be used to calculate rigging sizes, number of ropes
required, block sizes and cleat sizes (.zip file for PC).
NOTE: macros must be turned on for the Excel workbook to operate correctly.

NOTE:
I have received some feedback about my rigging calculator. Security setting
for later versions of Excel will not allow the Macro's to run. This can be
overcome by setting Macro security to low. I am not in a position to obtain
a Digital certificate for the macro's in this program. I am forwarding an
unlocked copy of the spread sheet to you. However since this copy is
unprotected users should be aware that they could inadvertently corrupt
the calculations if they change any information in any cell that is not called
out for entry on the USAGE sheet. This unprotected copy should solve the
problem if all else fails.
Click here (.zip file for PC).
