I use only acrylics and paint all types of plastics with them w/o any problems - however plastics take a bit of prep work before painting and especially with acrylics. I have never used the ME® paints and nowadays I use only Badger® Airbrush Modelflex Marine acrylic paints.
Styrene plastics at minimum must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and allowed to dry. If at all possible it is advisable to prepare the surface a bit before washing with a very fine sandpaper or better a 3M® artificial steel wool pad and then wash, rinse and dry.
If you are using some molded parts of polyester resin (Alumilite® or similar molding material), resin parts need to be cleaned of mold release materials. I use Westley's Tire Bleach® and soak the parts for a few minutes, scrub with an old toothbrush, wash, rinse and dry the parts and then paint.
I usually use a gray Modelflex®paint as a "primer" to make all the parts being painted a uniform color before the color coats are applied. This is not a primer paint but it is used just to make each type of material being painted a uniform color so that the color coats look identical whether applied over wood, plastic or brass.
If you are going to use the ME® paints, try a true primer paint as a first coat and then paint with the ME® paint and see if it makes a difference.
BTW, the Westley's Tire Bleach® makes a very good paint
remover for acrylic paints - soak the part for an hour or more, take a toothbrush
to it and the paint should come off. If not soak a bit longer and try again.
It will work.
