Cathedral Lake 1                             (Click on any picture for an enlarged view.)

Here we are at Tuolumne Meadows getting the backpacks ready for our 3.5-mile uphill trek to lower Cathedral Lake.

Group photo time at the trailhead. That's Dan, me, Ray and Dave, with Rich taking the picture.

Real men don't need maps, so we walked right on by.

We encountered a mule train not long after we began our uphill trek. This mule looks like he's sleep walking, doesn't he?

Dave takes a short break.

I mentioned early retirement, and Dan broke out into the biggest grin.

These lovely, delicate flowers lined the trail and the lake shore. I believe they are a type of Sierra Penstemon.

We hiked past Cathedral Peak, then down hill a ways to this beautiful meadow beside the lake.

As soon as we found a suitable campsite, Rich began dinner as the sun slowly sank behind the peaks.
