Cathedral Lake 4                              (Click on any picture for an enlarged view.)

Dan looked out across the lake and said, "I'm going to climb to the top of that dome on the right, then cross over and climb that jagged peak on the left. The others thought it was a great idea, so the four Smith brothers set out on their quest. Their plan was to follow the trees up to the notch.

They followed this tree line up the slope, but got disoriented near the top and climbed the smaller, center dome just to the right of the jagged peak.

Looking down at Catherdral Lake from on top with Dan and Dave. Tuolumne Meadows is just beyond the small dome in the upper right hand corner of the picture.

Dave, with Tanaya Lake in the distance.

Same view with Ray and Rich--but is it just me, or do   they look like they want to kill the cameraman?

Rich and Dave found another peak to climb that gave them a view straight down Tanaya Canyon all the way to Half Dome. Dave gives a triumphant thumbs up.

Rich stops about half way down the descent for a shot of Cathedral Lake.
