While relaxing in the shade, we spotted a
swimmer in the lake. "It's an animal", someone said. |
It was a very BIG animal. He swam towards our side of the
lake and came ashore about 100 yards from camp. |
When we formed a defensive line between him and our campsite,
all of us with pots and pans (and cameras) in hand, Boo Boo took a left turn and went
uphill. |

He seemed to be walking directly towards
something on the rocks. |

He found it: one of David's salami sandwiches. |
As he munched on the sandwich, he occasionally turned
around and looked back at us as if to say, "You got a problem with this?" |
Then, as quickly as he came, he sauntered away. |
Dave followed at a safe distance to insure Boo Boo really left. He did leave, but he came
back in the middle of the night in search of our garbage bags, which were suspended
from the branch of a large tree. Ask Ray how he dealt with the bear in the tree.
