F4J's fly by after returning from their mission.
They'll peel off one at a time to land.

Crew members watch an A7 line up.

An RF5C Vigilante is right on the mark.

Someone described committment this way:
in an omelette, the chicken is involved, the
egg is committed. This A2 is committed.

An F4J Phantom grabs the number two wire
for a perfect textbook landing. I'd be happy
just to hit the deck, but carrier pilots hit the
the number two wire most of the time.

An A2 tanker runs out the arresting cable.
The guy at right has "the most dangerous
job in the Navy." He's there to insure that the aircraft's arresting gear lets go of the cable.

An A6, speed brakes extended, commits.

An A7 grabs the number three wire.

"You're too high. Wave off. Wave off."

The only battle damage suffered on this tour.
No pilots lost; no crew members lost.

A red shirt takes a break after getting this
A7 ready for the next mission.

Enlarge this to see what happens to the old
Goodyears after a few carrier landings.
