Is this is a Civil War postal tax from
Spain, whose town (Vilaboi) is not in any of my catalogs? Or is it just
a municipal revenue?

The stamp is listed in the "Catalogo De Los Sellos Locales Emitidos
Durante La Guerra Civil Espanola 1936-1939" (aka SOFIMA catalog).
It's on page 104. If you never used this catalog, it is near
impossible to find anything. It's alphabetized by town within
province, so if you don't know the province you're looking all over
the place.
Anyway, there are 14 stamps of this design ranging in face value from 5c
to 5P ? some perf and some imperf, and variations on control numbers. As
best I can tell, yours is #10 for Vilaboi (Barcelona province). The "2s"
in the circle represents "series 2", although at first glance you think
it's a "25". Not all denominations are available in all three series.
These stamps are not uncommon and trade in the $5.00 range. [Jerry Modzel]
