Many Lebanese stamps were overprinted with various networks as control marks. Are all of
these "national" issues or do different networks or colors represent different districts in
Lebanon?

I have only ever seen one sort of network per stamp overprinted,
and only one sort of overprint is on each stamp listed in Stanley Gibbons'
Middle East catalogue. I would guess that this would be a national issue;
being the first stamps issued after a period of 3 or 4 years of war my
guess would be that this was in order to invalidate looted stamps. [Dave Joll]
