This stamp was produced in USA in the 1960's. Be careful with it as it is
printed on "Dick Tracy" edible paper which melts in water. This paper was
sold in "secet agent" outfits. The inscription is in Scottish Gaelic...not
Irish Erse.. and reads "Only a goat would buy item". The perpetrator of
the joke was a schoolboy who read my "Some Curious Weeds" columns in the
1960's and he sent me some to advertise them. As a joke, I wrote them up
as being on rainbow paper which changed colour through the spectrum when
immersed in water. Anthony J Annets, a large UK stamp dealer had bought a
parcel of them and, after reading my article, he stuck them in a basin of
water to colour them, and they melted into a pulp. Like Queen Victoria of
Great Britain, he was not amused. [David M. Stirling]
