Work Weekend

Over the last Seven years the Mountainmen have constructed thirty-nine (39) tent platforms, One pavilion, one patrol leaders platforms and four scout master platforms. In addition to the platforms the area has had gravel spread to improve drainage, fire lay and camp fire seating have been constructed. The tents fitting the Scoutmasters platforms were also provided by the Mountainmen.

This years project was to build a eight Adirondack chairs to improve the comfort for the Scouters attending camp in Paul Bunyan. The Crew also cleaned the Paul Bunyan area to remove debris and dead trees that has accumulated since the last camping season.

Donations to support these projects comes from many of our friends in Iaoapogh Mountains District. Each project is dedicated to one of our members who has made a significant contribution to youth in our district.

While it is a work weekend the start is at the Wallanpaupack Inn just accross the river in that other state for dinner and copious amounts of Weem's Elixir. The starting festivities is affectionately called "Boy's Night Out" by our resident MCP. Besides dinner, hardy and delicious breakfast and lunches are provided by Iaoapogh's own Kitchen staff from the Road Kill Cafe. Deer, Elk, and Moose have been common fair and some times we think the occasional possum has made it to the pot.

We all work hard and we all have a good time. Cheerful banter is the order of the day. Ages range from 20 to 83 years old, if your in that age group we have a spot for you!

We do this every spring to coincide with weekends that will not interfere with youth attendance at the camp. If you're interested in working one of these projects or are willing to make a contribution to these efforts any one of the guys above can provide assistance. If you don't recognize anyone than come to a round table or a district meeting and we will introduce ourselves
