It is the start of a new scouting year and you have recruited a large number of new Cub Scout leaders. You go to your pack library to find all those Video copies of Cub Scout Fast Start and there are none. You could have sworn that you made enough copies and that you had gotten them back from all the new leaders from last year! Now you'll have to find your original 42nd copy of the original, and then twist the arm of your technical expert to produce high grade copies of your "original". Naturally you don't have any cassettes since you bought a DVD player, so now you have to make a trip to the mall for a ten pack of tape. Thank goodness you don't have to worry about VHS and beta any longer. Oh! You promised Suzy a copy to take with her on vacation! What are you going to do now!

Okay! don't get your shorts all twisted, there is an easier way.

Do most of your leaders have a PC at home or have a library card? The answer is most likely yes! Here is what do. Give them this URL (LINK)

http://www.scouting.org/cubscouts/faststart/.

Better still e-mail it to them, sorry library cards don't work but there are plenty of free e-mail sites for them to set up an account at the library to access when on line.

This will take them to the national council where they will be viewing an interactive on-line fast start program. Unlike the tape you will not have to sit through or fast forward the tape to get to your position specific information. Click on one of the six Icons (Badges) and it will tailor the program for you. Want to know what everyone else's job is click on home and start all over.

This contains all the information in the the original videos and a glossary of terms. Try it I think you will find it a a welcome addition to your pack library
