Translation of Ayn's quest, Phantasy Star III, Japanese version Notes: Name differences are noted below. If some of the Japanese name romanizations don't match the ones used in the Compendium translation, it's because I've finally given up on trying to figure out PS3's bizarre name changes and variants. In rough order of appearance, continued from Kein's quest: Thea --> Lann Techna --> Flotraan Endora --> the "artisans' village" Cape Dragon Spine --> Dragon's Cape Sari --> Lynn Note: "Siren" could be "Psy-Wren". PS3's various domes are not given specific names ("Aridia", "Frigidia", etc.) in the Japanese version. Likewise, Alisa III's two "moons" are not given proper names in the original; they're just referred to as the "blue moon" and "purple moon" instead of Azura and Dahlia. Kein: For Marlena, I will give up my home and royal birthright. Marlena: Then I shall give you my country and self in return. Narrator: And so, Kein Sa Riik's long journey drew to a close. He was finally able to reunite with his long-lost love, Marlena. Kein became Kein Le Cille, ruler of Marlena's country. The two brought a young prince named Ayn into the world. Decades of peace elapsed. But, now... This is the story of Kein and Marlena's son, Ayn Le Cille. CILLE CASTLE ----------------------------------------------------------- (Three soldiers approach the throne of King Kein.) Soldier: K, King Kein! Lady Marlena! Prince Ayn! A-A report! A giant army of robots has appeared out of nowhere! Soldier: The robots are flying Orakio's colors and are invading our lands! Our armies of monsters are nearly annihilated! Soldier: We've received a missive from King Lyle of Shusoran! He's been severely wounded and has taken leave from the battlefield! (The three soldiers depart.) Kein: Ayn, my son... That which I have long feared is upon us... In my travels throughout the land, I have heard tales of the existence of other worlds... And I dreaded that one day invaders would come from one of those worlds... Ayn! I will protect this country! You leave this land with Mieu and Searren! And seek the "world of eternal peace", Satellite... Kein: Seek out Satellite! Marlena: This land is probably already...Ayn! Start your journey! Soldiers: - "Orakio's Law" forbids them from killing us directly. Instead, they send their robots. Now, barring a miracle, they're poised to annihilate us. Nobles: - I've heard of "the world of eternal peace", Satellite. It is said that when the world falls into conflict and war, those chosen by the gods are allowed to live there. - Prince Ayn! We're depending on you! Please, you must return home... - There are legions of robots outside the castle! CILLE ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - A world of eternal peace... Please, find Satellite. - If only at least my family could move to Satellite... - Has King Lyle's southern realm of Shusoran already fallen to the enemy? Townspeople (Women): - If the legendary Satellite exists, our suffering is at an end! SHUSORAN CASTLE ----------------------------------------------------------- Lyle: Ayn! How you've grown! I've heard that you're searching for Satellite. I wish I were as strong as I was when I traveled with Kein so I could lend you a hand... But, as King, I have a duty to protect my country... Lann: Lord Ayn, have you forgotten me? I am Lyle's daughter, Lann La Mirah! Nobles: - Lord Lyle lost one of his eyes in a recent battle... - Shusoran never fall long as Lord Lyle is with us! Soldiers: - Lord Lyle has scars all over his body from combating the robot armies... He won't talk to anyone about it, and he's abruptly been taken off the battlefield... - The Orakians should be wiped out! SHUSORAN ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - Who could be controlling these robots? Townspeople (Women): - A world of eternal peace... Please, find Satellite. Townspeople (Children): - Shusoran will never be destroyed as long as Lord Lyle, the Dragon Knight, is here! AGOE ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - The country of Agoe is an Orakian land, but you are welcome here. - I doubt that even King Kein and King Lyle will be able to protect their kingdoms any longer... Townspeople (Women): - We've had no conflicts for so many years...who is the mastermind commanding these robots? AGOE CASTLE ----------------------------------------------------------- Nobles: - I wonder where the Orakians are who are attacking your kingdoms... - How do you expect to find Satellite? It exists only in legend! Soldiers: - But Orakians and Laians have lived in peace for decades here! King: - Rumor has it that the kingdom of Riik - the homeland of King Kein, your father - is under attack by monsters of unknown origin. Where are all these Orakian robots and Laian monsters coming from... RYSEL ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - The village of Rysel has not forgotten that your father saved us. - It's horrible! As soon as you left, a new army of robots crossed the sea! If that's true, I fear that your kingdom could by now be... You'd best hurry back! Woman Upstairs in House: - Move to "Satellite"?! You actually believe that legend?! AGOE (after visiting Rysel) ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - The country of Agoe is an Orakian land, but you are welcome here. - I heard that the people of Cille and Shusoran fled somewhere. Townspeople (Women): - We've had no conflicts for so many years...who is the mastermind commanding these robots? AGOE CASTLE (after visiting Rysel) ----------------------------------------------------------- Nobles: - Both Cille and Shusoran are engulfed in flame! - I pray that you find the legendary Satellite... Soldiers: - At least the people of Cille and Shusoran were able to escape... King: - A terrible thing has occurred... CILLE (after visiting Rysel) ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - Cille and Shusoran have both been destroyed. Their peoples fled to the desert world. As for me, I cannot bring myself to leave the town that holds my family's graves... TUNNEL FROM RIIK'S WORLD TO SHUSORAN'S WORLD ----------------------------------------------------------- (Two soldiers block the paths.) Soldiers: - I am a soldier of Lord Lune, who is searching for our revered Laia's lost treasure! Do not interfere! - I am a soldier of Lord Lune, who is searching for our revered Laia's lost treasure! HAZATAK ----------------------------------------------------------- Cyborgs: - VISITORS ARE RARE IN THE FORGOTTEN DESERT TOWN OF HAZATAK. - AN ANDROID GONE MAD WANDERS THE DESERT. - SOME PEOPLE WHO LOOKED LIKE LAIAN REFUGEES FLED TO THE WEST. AMONG THEM WAS THE MAN WHO STOLE THE TWINS' RUBY FROM US TWENTY YEARS AGO AND FLED TO RIIK VIA THE NORTHWEST CAVE. - THERE'S A WAY TO REACH SATELLITE THROUGH FLOTRAAN, TO THE EAST. HOWEVER, YOU LIKELY WON'T BE ABLE TO GO THERE WITHOUT THE POWER TOPAZ. - IT IS SAID THAT THE POWER TOPAZ IS A SATERAN HEIRLOOM. THAT COUNTRY WAS ONCE HOME TO ANOTHER VISITOR TO THIS TOWN CALLED LENA. NOW, HOWEVER, THEY SAY THAT THE STONE IS THE PROPERTY OF HER DAUGHTER, WHO LIVES IN RIIK CASTLE. DESERT WORLD ----------------------------------------------------------- Miun: Oh! You're Lord Orakio...I've been waiting to see you for... ...? NO! You're not Lord Orakio! You don't have his black sword! Oh! Where is my Lord Orakio? SEARREN'S OLD CAVE ----------------------------------------------------------- Soldiers: - King Kein, King Lyle, and Lady Marlena are being kept inside... - Lord Lyle received even more wounds when the robot armies invaded. Princess Lann was seized by the enemy. Our nation is in tatters... - All this happened in your absence, Prince Ayn! Children: - We ran away from Cille and Shusoran. They were destroyed... Nobles: - Lord Lyle has been gravely wounded. It pains me to say it, but he might not have much longer... Kein: Ayn! Grant Lyle...grant my dear friend his wish! Marlena: Lyle is already... He tries to keep up appearances, but... Lyle: Ayn... I'm a disgrace to the title of the Dragon Knight... I beg you, Ayn! Save my daughter! She's been taken to the eastern world! All I can do is to give you the key to that world... In that box is the key...the pearl called the Dragon's Tear! Please! Lann...my daughter...please save her! LENSOL ----------------------------------------------------------- Old Man Upstairs in Equipment Shop: - I believe that some of the technological sciences have been preserved round about Flotraan, an island off the shore. ARTISANS' VILLAGE ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - What're Laians doing in the Orakian "Artisans' Village"?! - If you go east, you'll reach "Dragon's Cape". If you cross the sea at that point, you'll come to the engineers' "Castle of Power", Flotraan. - ...I beg of you! Please save Miss Lann! ...The truth is, since I laid eyes upon the captive princess, I wanted her to be MY captive... I wanted to rescue her, and I succeeded in opening the front gate, but I couldn't stand up to the fierce robots inside. I got scared, and ran through the water behind me back home. I'm not cut out to be a hero - I'm just a poor excuse for a man... Townspeople (Women): - I hear a beautiful princess was taken into the castle of Lensol, to the south. My friend Quisto has been acting pretty odd since then... LENSOL CASTLE ----------------------------------------------------------- (The party finds Lann in her cell.) Lann: Lord Ayn! Lord Ayn! Lord Ayn! You came all the way to a place like this just for me... The robots wanted to know how to use my Twins' Ruby... My father, Lyle, left it in my care - it should certainly come in handy... That reminds me, how is Father? Please take me to where he is! Narrator: Ayn and the party saved Lann! ARTISANS' VILLAGE (after rescuing Lann) ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - What're Laians doing in the Orakian "Artisans' Village"?! - If you go east, you'll reach "Dragon's Cape". RIIK CASTLE ----------------------------------------------------------- (The party finds Lynn waiting in the dungeon.) Lynn: I am Lena's daughter, Lynn! I ascended to the heirless throne of the kingdom of Riik! YOU, you traitor to the Orakians, what business do you have here?! Do you think I'm going to hand over the Power Topaz, Satera's heirloom treasure, to YOU?! This is the key to Orakio's ancient former fortress! Prepare yourself, you babbling traitor! (A battle between Lynn and the party ensues. Lynn is defeated.) Lynn: I lost... I'll give you the Power Topaz. But you're letting me come along to see just what it is you're up to! Narrator: Lynn joined the party! SEARREN'S OLD CAVE (after obtaining the Power Topaz) ----------------------------------------------------------- Soldiers: - King Kein, King Lyle, and Lady Marlena are being kept inside... - I pledge to you the same loyalty I have to Lord Lyle! - Long live Prince Ayn! Long live Lady Lann! Glory to Laia's people! Nobles: - Lord Lyle has been gravely wounded. It pains me to say it, but he might not have much longer... Children: - When I grow up, I wanna be like Lord Ayn! Kein: Search out Satellite! Marlena: Lyle is already... He tries to keep up appearances, but... Lyle: Go to the eastern world! The place called "Dragon's Cape"...go there! You'll understand why when you arrive! Hurry! There's no time! DRAGON'S CAPE ----------------------------------------------------------- (The party reaches the area known as Dragon's Cape. A dragon is waiting for them there.) Dragon: Climb on my back...I'll take you to Flotraan. (The party climbs onto the dragon's back. It then flies southeast across an arm of the sea and lands on the isle of Flotraan. The dragon then transforms into the familiar figure of Lyle.) Lyle: Did you see that... I...have...the power to...change into a...dragon... Once...I took...Marlena...away in...this form... Please don't...tell Kein...any of this... I leave...Lann...in your care... (Lyle disappears.) Narrator: Lyle, scarred and battered, has exhausted his power. He is dead. FLOTRAAN ----------------------------------------------------------- Townspeople (Men): - "Satellite"? Ahh...headed for Satellite, are you? Don't you know? The marauding robot armies come from there! Townspeople (Old Men): - The location of the legendary Satellite, you ask? Look up at the sky... at the twinkling blue moon. Laia moved it away 1,000 years ago. But twenty years ago, it was moved back. The blue moon - that's Satellite. Townspeople (Women): - This is the royal town of Flotraan, the Castle of Power. - You can reach Satellite from beneath this castle. But beware! The legendary Satellite is no place of eternal peace! Townspeople (Children): - Our castle was taken over by robots who appeared out of nowhere... Man Upstairs in Weapon Shop: - We're Orakians, but we welcome Laians as well. FLOTRAAN CASTLE ----------------------------------------------------------- (The party finds an old man and rocket shuttle deep in the dungeon.) Old Man: Laians, here... wanting to go to Satellite...?? Ohh! That's the Power Topaz! The symbol of ownership of the spaceship! In that case, go ahead and use our homeland's spaceship!... And learn the true nature of our world, the Alisa III... (The party boards the shuttle at Flotraan and flies above Alisa III.) Ayn: Look down at where we took off from! Mieu: The world we live in... So that's it's true form... Lynn: An enormous spaceship created by our ancestors' ancient civilization... (The shuttle approaches the blue moon.) Searren: We've arrived at Satellite. BLUE MOON ----------------------------------------------------------- (The shuttle lands on the blue moon.) Lann: Satellite... So the moons in our sky were spaceships too... (The party finds Siren in the blue moon's dungeon.) Siren: There are yet survivors among the Orakians?! But I thought my robot armies had wiped them all out! I am a Siren-type robot! You comrade Searren is modeled after me. 1,000 years ago, I served Lord Orakio along with the android Miun! However, Laia used her strange powers to send me away, along with Satellite! I've waited 1,000 years' time! My day of vengeance upon Laia is at hand! (A battle between Siren and the party ensues. Siren is defeated.) Siren: Why don't you finish me off?! Laia's Law forbids killing? But I'll keep coming back until I die! Until I have exterminated all the foes of the Lord Orakio to whom I have pledged my heart! Narrator: Siren escapes! Ayn's journey is over... The Laians migrated to Satellite. And it came time for Ayn to take a wife. --End of Ayn's quest--
