I like all the books, city and country. Both have their interesting sides. I really do seem to like the ones where Qwill goes to new places and gets involved with new characters. I guess maybe the city books are better in that way.

Moose County! Let's hear it for Up There! Not that there's anything wrong with Down Below, but there are so few episodes set there...Being from a small town myself, I am intrigued with Moose County etiquette, ways of life, and interesting characters. The people who frequent the Dismal Diner, Lois' Luncheonette, and the Black Bear Cafe are of particular interest. And let's also hear it for life in an apple barn! Must be an extremely different way to live.
Plus, Up There has something Down Below does not. Everyone chant in unison: "Amanda Goodwinter" please...

Moose County!

I definitely prefer the Moose County books. When life gets too stressful, I pick up my "Cat Who" book and travel to Moose County and when I get back, I feel soooo much better.

One-woman Qwill.
I like the stories of Moose County better.
Enough of Potato Mountain. One book was enough.

I really like the books set in Moose County. I live in a semi-small town, and sometimes I wish it was smaller, like Pickax. Down Below was okay, because if Qwill hadn't been Down Below he wouldn't have Koko and Yum Yum, but I like Moose County a lot better. (Let's hear it for apple barns!)

I much prefer the Moose County setting over the Down Below. Having lived in a big city all of my life, I am intrigued and greatly admire the small town life and love his apple barn home.

Moose County, no question. I live 400 miles North of Nowhere, next to the lake with Canada on the other side of it, myself. I moved here 4 years ago, from London (England) and to my great surprise, found that Up There, USA, was exactly as I imagined it from the books. I always loved the sound of Moose County when I started reading the books in England and now I live there I'm eternally delighted that it really is as neat as it sounded to me all those years ago.

I know this is a belated response but in the Country-vs-City, I too would pick Moose County for the simple reason that we all know it quite well. But that's the main handicap--of the twenty-two Cat Who.. books, only about 5 have been actually been set in Down Below (which is coming off as Detroit, tho for a long time I thought Chicago). The contest isn't exactly fair; you might as well compare Moose County vs the Potato Mountains. Little details, such as Koko's picture hanging in the Fluxion's pressroom, are worth noting. I'd like to have Qwill return to Down Below for one book, maybe clear up some unknown business for a friend, or the like.
