Responses to (thanks to Ann) "How does Moose County compare that other famed small-town setting of note, Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon?":

In Lake Wobegon, all the women are strong, all the men good-looking, and the children above average. Moose County seems to follow these lines, although Moose County seems to have fewer children.

Well, I spend all my vacation time in Moose County and have never had time to go to Lake Wobegon, so I can't say. [Hey! It's my job to make smart comments around here, thank you very much! -_^]

It's comparing apples to oranges. Lake Wobegon is intended to showcase Keillor; no other individual people live there. Moose County has, in contrast, *many* individuals: Qwill, Polly, Riker, Brodie, Ed Smith, Amanda, the Bambas, for example(s); LJB does not appear. Additionally, Keillor decends to the level of the quaint and precious (nudge, nudge; wink, wink) with enough regularity to show that to be intentional. Certainly, there's a bit of quaint and precious in "The Cat Who..." stories -- "Ittibittiwassee" ferpetessake! -- but LJB generally doesn't bludgeon her audience with it.
