To tell you the truth I didn't like any of the stories in The Cat Who had 14 Tales. I found them mostly depressing as it bothers me to read anything about animals being killed or hurt. I really did not enjoy the book at all. I wonder if anyone else feels the same?

It's been some time since I read "14 Tales", so I dug it out yesterday and read it again. I have to admit that I found most of the stories, while well written, somewhat "dark" and depressing. I did, however like the one about Tipsy and the last one, "A New Year's Eve Tragedy". The latter would be my favourite.

I agree with Loreli. I also found the stories depressing and some of them downright heartbreaking. I suppose that's understandable in the case of "The Sin of Madame Phloi" because Braun was working through her grief at the murder of her cat when writing it. I still prefer Pickax and "Down Below," though.
