I've already rung in myself on this question in my C-Pad, but I'd like to bring up two worthy ideas for potential plot threads voiced on the mailing list - 1) a situation that would put Polly under suspicion for murder, and 2) Brutus and Catta having kittens. (I'll look up and credit the two folks who brainstormed these ideas later in the day; they indeed deserve due credit, but it's currently 1:50 in the morning as I write this...)

Qwill's been connected to quite a few crimes; I wonder if anyone would ever track him down, esp. out of vengeance? Joy's husband (Saw Red) is a good example of such.
Also like to see a book where murder is not the main crime; doesn't anyone just rob a bank or something?
Even more off the track: What if Qwill were attacked, left in a coma (from concussion or poison) and Polly had to take in Ko-ko & Yum Yum? Like to see Polly take a more active role than just being the Lady Fair.

Loreli

I too would like to see Polly come under suspicion of murder and be found guilty. I always thought she had it in her. I would hate to see this happen to Qwill though. I wouldn't want to see Qwill go into a coma even if Polly didn't take Koko and Yum Yum. I don't think I'd be very interested in a book with Polly on center stage.

Rebecca [another one]

Please, get rid of Polly. And have the cats in it more.

Carole (in France)

I can't wait to read a book with Polly under suspicion. I don't like her very much as she's always too much or not enough...
Well, this is not the subject of this poll!!
I'd like to have some news about Qwilleran's wife, perhaps her arrival in town, looking for her husband, money or more? And then finally under suspicion!
I know that Qwilleran's wife may be in an hospital or somewhere else, but this won't be the first time that something strange would be in a Cat Who book!
And why not a mysterious heir? I'm thinking of someone who wants Qwilleran's inheritance. Fannie's grand-son, or something like that. But of course, Qwilleran would keep the money at the end, as it's a fraudulent demand and the mysterious man is hiding a crime or two. I think I've read something about it, in "The Cat Who Played Brahms".

Why does everyone want to kill off Polly? I think a good idea for the next book is another trip somewhere, and maybe a new friend for Koko and Yum Yum.

Matt

The next thing I'd like to see in the series is Polly have a change of heart and push Qwill into getting married. But Qwill, of course, doesn't want to and he and Fran Brodie hook up!

Angela

I have always thought it would be incredibly funny if Qwill's coffee-pot broke down. Nobody could fix it, and Qwill has to buy one of the new coffee pots with thousands of buttons, then Koko fixes his old one. :)

Abby [posted 11 months late! Argh, my apologies, Abby!]

I would like to see something happen to Amanda Goodwinter. She's too cranky and annoying. I love these books though! There is not enough Nick and Lori Bamba and too much smoozing with Polly, the relationship is going nowhere.

Ann [again, apologies due, months late - 8 this time...]

Seems that several people would love to see Polly considered suspect--if not actually guilty--of murder; how would Qwill deal with his Lady Fair being under the shadow? One word of warning--Dorothy Sayers had a similar tactic in her Lord Peter Wimsey series, where the similar Harriet Vane was arrested for the presumed murder of her former fiance. The warning is that several books later Lord Peter actually married Harriet, and she was as rejected then by mystery fans as Polly is now. If Polly ever is considered guilty of murder, there is the horrible possibility that Qwill may indeed marry her. YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!
