When I visited Caseville, Michigan where she lived, I learned a lot of interesting tid-bits about LJB.

A bookstore there sold pawtographed copies of her books and I bought several. I haven't been back in about 10 years and am wondering if the bookstore is still there.

She lived in a house on Lake Huron with a sign out front that said, "No Oaks." She lived there in the summer and in North Carolina in the winter. The next year after I was there she moved to North Carolina permanently as she had some kind of eye problem.

I went to the book signing! And met her! What a pleasure it was. She is a very sweet lady. She looked even better than she looks on the book jackets. She was at a table and there is a chair there so you can sit down and chat for a minute. (This was my first book signing experience!) I did sit down with her and chat a little, but there was a steady flow of people the whole time I was there.

The day I met her she was dressed up and looking very neat with a hat on too, not quite as casual as her picture. She was very sweet and friendly and funny, interested in what we had to say. (Of course they were all compliments!)
