Bag lady beckons

from the subway stand.

Press a new dollar

in a time worn hand.

City scapes...

a million stories told...

Celebrations of life,

exultations of fear;

love's a misdemeanor

and I need another beer.

Strangers passing one by one;

one has a bottle,

one has a gun.

The weather is muggy

in more ways than one.

City scapes...

hear them speak...

the ring of my shoes

 on a crowded street.

Bustling shoppers,

their prizes in tow.

The bum on the corner

with nowhere to go.

A million faces

merging into one

the universe melting

in the neon sun.

City scapes...

high rise and low life;

briefcase and brown bag;

uptown and down.

From glory to gutter

with one stroke of the pen...

wishing I had it to do over again.

Night casts a shadow

on trouble and pain

but here in the darkness,

we all look the same.

City scapes...

write your own story.

Some of you wrote your own story!

Read them here!
