Mines

Globe / Miami Street & Mine Scene

The images below were made at either the Old Dominion Mine near downtown Globe, AZ or at a location called Copper Hills. Both are abandoned mine sites.

The Old Dominion Mine site is being environmentally restored and is not accessible to the public to view except from Route 60. The mine itself closed when the shaft entered a local aquifer in the 1920s and has been closed for mining since. The mine is used as a source of water for other mining operations in the area. My tour there was a real treat.

The Copper Hills site is abandoned and visiting there is probably trespassing but it is a terribly interesting structure and was last used in the 1950s.
