Pendroy Migration from Iowa to North Dakota Around 1882.

The following Pendroy families moved in 1882-1883 after drought caused raising cattle not to be profitable. North Dakota was opened to Homesteading and free land was very appealing.

It was initially believed by this author, and was stated on this site that Elizabeth (Pendroy) Byers went to North Dakota with other Pendroys.

However, recent further research from the Bolton family indicates several years before the 1881 – 1883 Pendroy migration to McHenry Co. North Dakota, Isaac and Elizabeth (Pendroy) Byers ended up together at an 80-acre farm in Winchester, Van Meter County, Iowa. Therefore, I have removed them from this migration list.

(Author note: Jacob Andrew and Margaret (Brown) Pendroy, and possibly some extended family,  moved to Guthrie County Iowa where Browns lived, and lived there for a year or 2 before moving to the Velva North Dakota area)

Although it is believed she went as a widow with all of her relatives to North Dakota, it appears she was returned to Monroe, Iowa to be buried with her second husband, Daniel Mosier. That Mosier gravesite is only a few feet away from Jacob and Margaret (Boots) Pendroy, her parents.

5. Nancy (Pendroy) Young born 1829 moved at age 53.

A special thanks to the Duncan family in Oregon - Mary E. (Berry) Stickels's great great grand daughter  for this information. Mary E. Berry was a daughter of William and Rachel (Pendroy) Berry. Rachel Pendroy was a daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Boots) Pendroy.
