The "ELLIS" Connection - to Surname Pendroy
There surname ELLIS recurs several times with the surname Pendroy. The Ellis name appears frequently in Pendroy genealogy and family names including William Ellis Pendroy, and the John R. Pendroy biography which states his father was Ellis Pendroy.
A person named William A. Ellis is located in census and other documents over many years and locations, including the fact that Eli Pendroy deeded some land to this person William A. Ellis in Greene County Ohio.
Also: This entry on page 300 of Robinson's History of Greene County: "Ellis, William A., Caesars Creek, 1840; Oct 24, 1833, married Elizabeth A. Boots.
It is possible that one of the two Boots/Pendroy marriages had a daughter they named Elizabeth Ann who married a William A. Ellis or a son with the same name. There were a very large number of Ellis surnames in the area so it is difficult to determine the connection. (Hopefully this can be resolved at some future date.)

John R. Pendroy of Greene County Ohio stated in published biography that his father was Ellis Pendroy of Greene County Ohio, referring to William Ellis Pendroy.
