Housing and Toys

Let's do Toys first as they are the "Fun" part of being a Parrot......

Think what life would be like if you had nothing to entertain you or stretch your mind.

Boring, huh?

Well, that is one reason why our birds need a variety of things to occupy both their minds and busy beaks and feet.

Different species of birds as well as the individual birds itself may require different kinds of toys.

Cockatoos and Macaws are obviously the "beavers" of the parrot world. They are happy when they have something to chew and destroy ( hopefully nothing that is precious or functional for you). They are also the mechanical geniuses of the parrot world ( IMO).....I have a BE2 who loves to take things apart...

When we rescued Waldo, I noticed that in his cage were alot of Acrylic toys....I said something to the lady and her response was that he "destroyed" everything else they put in there!!! Like, yah.

That is what 'Toos do.......

So as acrylic toys can be fun and challenging, they do not fill the need to destroy and shred. ( great for those of you who have fireplaces and need kindling!)

There are so many sources for toys.....

You can make your own....

Check out swap meets and garage sales for used baby toys.....

And order from either catalogs or online companies....
