He is awake, but to wiped to open his eyes. The wet wash cloth is
for his fever. His lips and cheeks are swollen from sores on the
inside of his mouth. His lips are caked with dried blood and magic
mouthwash (a local anesthetic for his mouth).

Even while feeling quite ill, Christian has time to check out what is
new in the nurses cabinet. He usually swipes as many rolls of tape
as he can get. Next Christmas I will only give him duct
tape.

gets up and starts playing golf, chatting the whole time.
