COUNTY
Virginia
Nestled between the Pamunkey and the Mattaponi Rivers, this pristine land was originally part of Pamunkey Neck where two great indian nations resided, the Pamunkey tribe and the Mattaponi tribe, which, to this day, grace our great County. Many of the old homes and our Courthouse were built with bricks made in England and Holland, shipped via sailing ships, unloaded at Horse Landing, where remnants still exist, and carried to the building sites. Organized in 1701, birthed on April 11, 1702 and named after the William of Orange, King of England. Forty miles in length and fourteen miles wide. Not the largest, nor the smallest, but one of the grandest!
