The Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego is an affiliate of the Electric Auto Association (EAA), and is a organization of electric car owners, electric car enthusiasts, and ordinary people who would just like to learn a little more about electric cars. We meet at the RTC [Reginal Transportation Center @ El Cajon & I-15] on the 4th Tuesday of every month except December. We have a local newsletter and EAA has "Current EVents".
Because of tighter government control of non-profit orgainizations, EVAoSD voted to accept EAA's offer to handle our funds for us. For that reason, EVAoSD has closed its bank account and turned our funds over to EAA. Donations to EVAoSD are made by sending them to EAA either by e-mail [Credit Card or PayPal from the EAA web page with "EVAoSD" in comments] or regular mail [check made out to EAA with "EVAoSD" on the comment line]. EVAoSD asks for a $12.50 donation per year to receive our printed newsletter and the cost its printing and mailing cost. To become a member of EAA and receive the Worldwide "Current EVents" in addition to the EVAoSD Newsletter is $39.00 per year in the United States by Credit Card, PayPal or check. Remember to put "EVAoSD in the comments field.
We meet every fourth Tuesday (except December) at 7:00 p.m. at the Reginal Transportation Center [El Cajon & I-15] next to Pearson Fuels. Go to the conference room.
The Electric Dragin’ EVent was the largest electric drag event put together with the help and support of the EV community and we are responding to the many request the results.
1. True that we did not race Sunday during the rain storm. However we are not finished yet. Our 2nd day has been postponed and we are working on scheduling the second day of racing. So all of you that wish that you could have joined the EVent still have time to get down to San Diego and show what you have or see what you have been missing.
2. Records yes there were records including records from Battery Beach Burnout. But as Father Time will tell you, “It ain’t a record until it is in the books.” So for now your will need to settle on the photos and smack talk; we did this for the records and we will post information as it is available.
3. So let’s go to the links that many have put on line to share the EV news and I am sure that Bill Moore with have even more news on EVWorld.com to keep you plugged-in.

4. Enjoy the photos and thanks to everyone that helped make this EVent possible we realize that it takes a tremendous amount of your time, energy and effort as together we pool our resources to make this happen. This past weekend of Public Awareness for electric-drive was not an accident; it was a tremendous success due to the effort of many and your part added to the EVent.
5. OK, I will give you one record that is “cast in stone” at the Barona 1/8 Mile Drag Strip. The slowest pass every recorded down the track is awarded to a 24” by 24” cardboard box with 9 mph. Now there is talk about “Reaction Time” and that may be taken several ways. But the photos will show that the “box” went back to the pit and change a sprocket to improve his time to 19 mph; which might not be fast to some reading this email; but it was the fastest box I every saw.
6. Let me know if you could get your EV down to San Diego for a real show on Saturday, May 31, 2008 if we were able to share the Track with Jr. Dragster and help promote the youngster that will be driving in the future.
Bill Hammons, President EVAoSD
