It is a basic tenet in Masonry that Masons do not recruit new members.  You may have seen the above slogan, "2B1ASK1" on bumper stickers.  Your friends who are Masons will not ask you to join their lodge, but will be eager to help you as soon as you take the first step of asking.  It must be of your own free will and accord!

Blue Square and Compass

Freemasonry consists of a course of ancient moral instructions, taught according to their ancient usages, by points, emblems and allegory.  It is the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world.  Its stated purpose is to make its members wiser, better, and consequently happier.

Masonry has endured the most divisive political, military and religious conflicts throughout the centuries.  Freemasonry is not a religion, but is so far interwoven with religion as to make a belief and trust in God a prerequisite for membership.  If you have this belief and trust, you are a candidate for masonry, regardless of religious preference.

The greatest and best men of all ages have been promoters of Masonry.  Nine signers of the Declaration of Independence, thirteen signers of the Constitution, and fourteen Presidents, beginning with George Washington, have been members of the craft.

Today there are more than four million Freemasons across the world!   We are doctors, lawyers, teachers, cooks, salesmen, locksmiths, indeed every walk of life, including stonemasons!  We meet in equality, on the level of our fraternity, sharing our diversity, and strengthening ourselves in fellowship.  We are of all different political ideologies, but meet as friends, equals, and, most importantly, brothers.

Freemasons exist within our society as quiet and peaceful citizens, conforming with cheerfulness to the lawful authority of our governments.  Our family, friends, and neighbors are our highest regard.  Masonry in no way interferes with our duties to them, or to our attention to our usual vocations.  Rather, it strengthens and encourages us to perform our daily duties, and responsibilities.

To become a Mason, you must sign a petition, stating your age, occupation, and place of residence, and submit it to a local Lodge.  Members will ballot, and must approve it by unanimous vote.

If you have interest in joining this ancient and honorable fraternity, simply ask a friend who is a Mason.  If you do not know a friend to be a Mason, (you are likely to know one) send an e-mail to the
