This is not a simple question and there is no simple answer. The technique would vary depending on whether you have an indoor or out door aviary, captive bred birds hand-raised pets, parent raised babies or wild caught birds. This topic is so involved, I could write a book about it.
As a general rule the flight should be at least 4X4X8 larger if possible. The wire for the flight should be 10 gauge or heavier. The nest boxes we use are18"X18"X36" and mounted horizontally with the opening on the long side of the box near one of the ends. The openings are about 6"X6". If you are breeding indoors and are using a metal nestbox, I would recommend putting a thick wooden front on it, to create a more natural appearance. The birds diet should be rich in leafy green, deep yellow and orange vegetables as well as a high quality pellet.
Joanne Abramsons book ,The Large Macaws, is the most comprehensive book on the subject and I recommend it highly.
