Thibault,

I do not think that Scarlet Macaws tend to be one-person birds any more than any other species. A bird tends to become a one-person bird because one person handles it most of the time.

If I had a bird that seems to like someone else better than me, I would handle the situation differently depending on how old the bird is, how long I have owned the bird. Other factors would also come into play, such as had the bird been abused, is it a wild caught bird, was it a breeding bird and how many homes it had inhabited. I never push a bird into being defensive. I have a bird that likes my husband better than me. She is a wonderful bird and I accept her preferences. We get along just fine, but she's still a Daddy's little girl.
