Warrick County Communities

Anderson Township communities include: Dayville, Red Bush, and Yankeetown.

  • St. Rupert Catholic Church is located in Red Bush (see Map).  This church was reportedly established ca. 1865, with members being served by Benedictine Fathers from St. Meinrad and Rockport.  St. Rupert's did not receive it's first resident pastor, the Rev. Charles Wagner, until 1893.

 



Boon Township communities include: Boonville (county seat), Bullocktown, Pelzer, and Rolling Acres.  Greenbrier is situated at the Hart and Boon townships line.

Campbell Township communities include: Baugh City, Millersburg, and St. John.

died in 1962.  It was not a large town, more like a subdivision..."



Greer Township communities include: Elberfeld, Stanley, and Wheatenville.  Stanley is located at the Greer and Hart townships line.



Hart Township communities include:   Graham Valley, Lynnville, Turpin.  Greenbrier is situated at the Boon and Hart townships line, and Stanley is located at the Greer and Hart townships line.

Lane Township communities include: Scalesville, Hemenway, and Jockey.



Ohio Township communities include: Camp Brosend, Castle Garden, Chandler, Newburgh, Paradise, Rustic Hills, and Stevenson.

   "...The story of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church begins 130 years ago, just before the start of the Civil War. A group of 15 families formed the parish in Newburgh when it was the oldest town in Warrick County and was considered the "metropolis of Southern Indiana..."

Owen Township communities include: Folsomville.



Pigeon Township communities include: Heilman and Selvin.

 



Skelton Township communities include: Ash Iron Springs, Eames, DeGonia Springs, and Tennyson.
DeGonia Springs, known for it's mineral springs, is situated in southern Skeleton Township.
Ash Iron Springs was situated in southern Skeleton Township, just south of DeGonia Springs.  An 1876 map of the county shows the property of a J. ASH near the springs, so it is likely it may have been his name which was once associated with the site.  (see Map)
