Marblehead

Rowley
Rowley, originally called "Mr. Ezechial
Rogers
Plantation", was settled, in 1638, by the Rogers Company headed by Rev.
Ezechial
Rogers. Rowley was incorporated as a town in 1639, and named for
Rowley,
Yorkshire, England, the hometown of Rev. Ezekiel Rogers and many of the
early
settlers.
Byfield was not a town, but
rather an
early Rowley parish. "...In 1702, the people living at "The
Falls," on Parker River, uniting with some people from Newbury, erected
a meeting-house. They were incorporated as a parish by the name of "The
Fall," Nov. 17, 1706,
and the same day a church was organized, and the Rev. Moses Hale, born
July
10, 1678, was ordained as pastor. The name of the parish in 1710 was
changed

Salisbury
Originally named Colchester, Salisbury

named for Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, from which many of the early
settlers
