Lawrence County Communities

Bono Township - Communities include Bono, Lawrenceport, Rivervale and Stonington.


Flinn / Flynn Township - Historical township which was located in eastern Lawrence County, in the area surrounding the present-day community of Leesville.  It existed at the time of the 1880 Census.  The area is now within the townships of Guthrie, Shawswick and Pleasant Run townships.



Guthrie Township - Communities include Buddha, Ft. Ritner, Leesville, Tunnelton and Pinhook. 

    • Railroad Tunnel - Tunnelton, IN - "...When railroads were introduced into Lawrence County, the hills presented quite a challenge.  Rather than go around one such hill located between Tunnelton and Ft. Ritner, the O&M (Ohio & Mississippi Railway) made the decision to tunnel through..."


Indian Creek Township - Communities include Coxton, Dark Hollow, Eureka, Fayetteville, Patton Hill and Silverville.  A portion of the Hoosier National Forest encompasses a large portion of the Townships of Indian Creek and Spice Valley.



Marion Township - Communities include Hartleyville, Mitchell, Rabbitville, Tarry Park and Yockey.  Juliet, Redding, Sinking Spring, Spring Mill and Woodland are communities, which appear to have been in Marion Township, on 1858 Johnson's map of Indiana.  Also located within Marion Township is Spring Mill State Park.

Marshall Township - Communities include Avoca, Coveyville, Guthrie, Judah, Needmore, Peerless, and Stemm.



Perry Township - Communities include Popcorn, Red Hill and Springville.
