Historical Society is "...also quite active in commemorating the
Lewis and Clark Bi-Centennial, since Meriwether Lewis met
William Clark (George's brother and a Clarksville resident also) at
Clarksville. They recruited many of their men from the local
area and left from the Clarksville
riverfront in October of 1803. We are having an activity at the
homesite in October to celebrate the event..." - Jane Sarles, President of the
