Their official web site contains a parish directory and a History of the Diocese of Manchester  from ca. 1790s when the Abenaki Indians, converted by French missionaries, were the first Catholics in New Hampshire.  In 1853, New Hampshire was included in the newly established Diocese of Portland, Maine, and there were the three parishes in New Hampshire were Saint Aloysius, (now Saint Mary's) in Dover [est. 1833], Old Saint Mary's, in Claremont [est. ca. 1822], and Saint Anne's in Manchester [est. by 1848].

He was the first priest ordained in the Diocese of Boston...He established himself as the 'Apostle of Maine' for nearly thirty years, then relocated to Illinois from 1846-1852.

His father, John, left his home at Longhur near Limerick, Ireland, in 1846...Taking work in Troy, New York, where John met Mary Toomey, and made her his wife.  The family relocated from Troy to Springfield to Chicago, where, in 1874 Maurice J.
