UPS Monitor for OS/2

UPS Monitor is a utility program to monitor and log power line and battery status for a large number of Uninterruptible Power Sources (UPS). It shuts down OS/2 or eComStation safely by time or low battery signal. Fully supports UPS parameter settings, diagnostics and parameter measurements for models that support these options. Individual program versions are available and are optimized for each UPS interface type to keep computer resource usage to a minimum.

UPS Monitor works with RS-232 communications ports only. USB is not supported.

Here are some features of the UPS Monitor programs:

• Supports smart signaling APC Back-UPS Pro, Smart-UPS and Matrix-UPS models.

• Supports smart signaling for Opti-UPS Enhanced Series and PowerES series.

• Supports smart signaling Powerware 5125 UPS.

• B version supports simple signaling (APC Back-UPS, Back-UPS Office and Back-UPS ES series) models.

• C version supports contact closure models from Tripplite, IBM and others.

• Monitors power and shuts down operating system when battery is low.

• Performs event logging for all models.

• Performs event scripts for Line Power On/Off or Battery low.

• Supports internal, external and XWorkplace Extended Shutdown.

• Support for UPS status display on XCenter or any other external program.

• Allows manual Shutdown Now with APM shutdown option.

• Performs parameter measurement and logging on Back-UPS Pro, Smart-UPS and Opti-UPS models.

• Adjusts UPS parameters if UPS model supports it.

• Supports APC smart signaling cables 940-0095A (plug and play), 940-0024B or 940-0024C.

• Supports Opti-UPS plug and play cable.

• Uses cable provided by manufacturer.

UPSMON2.ZIP - (size 0.6MB) UPS Monitor ver 1.4 - Freeware. Supports APC models Back-UPS Pro, Smart-UPS and other APC smart signaling UPS. Download this version if your UPS came with cable number 940-0095A or B (plug and play), 940-0024B or 940-0024C. The cable number can be found on one of the connector ends.

Note: Back-UPS Pro 1000 and 1400 appear not to have smart signaling interfaces. Check with manufacturer if in doubt if model has a smart or simple interface. UPS Monitor B below will work for these two models.

UPSMONC.ZIP - (size 0.5MB) UPS Monitor C ver 1.3 – Freeware. Supports contact closure UPS models by Tripplite, IBM, PK Electronics, Red Line Technology, CyberPower Systems, Belkin and other manufacturers. See below for all models supported.

UPS Monitor C is now tested and verified for the Magnum BI-UPS Power Supply, AAP UPS2 Power Supply and Beam Tech internal UPS models. These products are computer power supplies with integrated UPS which mount directly into your computer. The Beam Tech model is an internal UPS only.

Note: You must start UPS Monitor C with the -BOFF option for these UPS. Cable drawings are included in the Help file.

Note 1:

The Tripplite and IBM models have battery on/off control through the serial port. If connecting UPS Monitor C to these UPS's leaves battery turned off, you may have to use the command line option -BOFF to leave battery turned on. See Help - Command Line Options inside UPS Monitor C for more information.

Other contact closure UPS may also require the -BOFF command line switch. See Help for more details.
