Madonna of Media
		The Madonna of the Media is a personification of the Church. In the background of the Madonna are five circles, four of which contain the winged animals from the vision of Ezicial. These animals represent the four gospels. In past representations, the creatures held books in their hands as signs of the way in which the Gospel was recorded and passed on. In this modern icon, however, the animals hold the contemporary methods of communication; the eagle holds a computer, the winged man holds a telephone, the lion holds a television, and the bull holds the radio. The fifth circle holds the flame of the Holy Spirit. ____________________________
