7:30 P.M. PROGRAM
Keynote Speaker
Carole Cassidy
Interim Executive director
SOS Shelter

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and SOS SHELTER SERVICES:  Did you know that one in every four women will experience domestic violence within their lifetime? Women constitute 85% of the victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence includes physical, sexual, economic, and/or psychological abuse. It affects women in every racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic group within our communities. Come learn how the SOS Shelter has been helping families who experience, or are threatened by domestic violence for over 30 years! Carole Cassidy will discuss services provided, how to refer a woman in need, and how you can help the SOS Shelter. Carole will talk about the Clothesline Project, a program which honors women survivors and victims of violence through the public expression of shirts hanging from a clothesline. Clothesline Pins and note cards will be available for purchase. Carole will also discuss how violence is perpetuated against women and girls through the use of technology, and a new law placed into effect to help protect animals who are also victims of violence.
